The week started well, with Little Johnny Rasmussen pitched 8 strong innings and Alejandro Chavez finished it off for the save in a 4-2 win. The offense was provided by homers hit by Manny Toledo and Tadataka Yoshikawa.
Then the Flyers dropped the next 3 games, scoring only 1 run the rest of the series. Game 2 was a 6-1 loss, in which the Flyers scored in the 2nd inning. Game 3 was a 1-0 loss that lasted 11 innings. The series finale was a 5-0 loss.
When Charlotte scored in the bottom of the 1st inning of the series opener against Rockville, it broke a 27 inning scoreless streak. A rough start by Andres Gonzales ended up leading to a Flyers loss, but the 4 runs scored in the 8-4 game were a welcome change.
Rasmussen and Chavez combined for another strong pitching performance as Charlotte took game 2 by a score of 3-2.
The final game of the week was decided on a Fuad Demirel 3-run walk—off home run in the 10th inning as the Flyers won 9-6.
