The Flyers played 7 games this week and won 3 of them. This week also marked the final games during the regular season against teams from the Frontier Division. Charlotte went 33-31 against that group of teams. They will now return to playing the Atlantic Division for the remainder of the campaign.
The week began with the series finale against Mexico City. The Flyers trailed by 1 going to the bottom of the 9th but scored a run on an error to send the game to extra innings. In the bottom of the 11th, Farid bin Mubarak sent the fans home happy with a 1 out, walk-off, solo home run to give Charlotte the 6-5 win. It was the team’s 4th extra inning game in 9 days with two more to come during the week.
The Flyers then headed to Las Vegas. The Hustlers jumped all over Charlotte’s pitching for a 13-2 series opening win.
Las Vegas veteran Tom Rudge hit his 400th career home run in game 2 as the Hustlers shut out the Flyers 5-0.
Game 3 went 10 innings and the need when Aarnoud Budding hit a walk-off home run.
The Flyers avoided the sweep with a 4-3 win in 11 innings in the series finale as Tom Bates drove in the winning run with an RBI single.
The week ended with a split of the first 2 games of a 4 game series against Atlantic Division for New Orleans. The Crawdads won the opener 7-3. The 2nd game saw New Orleans jump out to an early 4-0 lead but the Flyers scored 8 runs in the final 4 innings to come away with an 8-5 victory. Andy Bishop[ had a home run and 3 RBI in the game.
