2058.41 Flight Log-Week 11 and 12 Recap
We missed the last weekly recap, but we are back now and will touch on the last two weeks all at once.
Week 11 was a great week for the team. The Flyers went 5-2, including a split of the final two games against Phoenix, a 3-1 road trip to Mexico City, and a series opening win against Las Vegas. They went 3-1 in 1-run games and won big in two others.
Robert Menzies (.348/2 H/8 RBI), Manny Toledo (.370/1 HR/6 RBI), and Fawwaz Amin (.368/3 HR/8 RBI) lead the charge for Charlotte as they gained ground in the Atlantic and the Wildcard. The week ended with an exciting walk-off 8-7 victory.
Week 12 was a terrible week for the team. The Flyers followed up that walk-off win with 4 straight losses, the first three of which were at home to complete the series against Las Vegas. Ivan Ruiz struggled in his start, but the other starters pitched well. The bullpen struggled all week, picking up 3 of the 4 losses awarded to the pitching staff. Felix Camarco had his worst week of the season, appearing in 3 games and ending up with a decision in all 3. He allowed 3 runs and 2 home runs in 3 innings, going 1-2 with a 9.00 ERA for the week.)
Following up the 3 losses to the Hustlers, Charlotte welcomed Edmonton to Family Dollar Field and lost 5-4 in the series opener. They finally won a game on Saturday, but it took them 10 innings to find their way to a 4-2 victory, when Fawwaz Amin sent the fans home happy with a 2-run walk-off homer.
Sunday’s game was rained out and will be made up in a double header on Monday.
