In this edition of Flight Log, we will take a look at the Good, The Bad, and the Player of the Series for the two full series Charlotte took part in this week. We will also look at a couple of roster moves made by the Flyers.

CHARLOTTE AT ATLANTIC CITY GAMBLERS

The Recap-
Charlotte took game 1 of the series by a score of 5-4. Andy Bishop tied the Charlotte franchise record for triples in a game with 2.
Charlotte won game 2 by a score of 13-0. Newly acquired free agent starting pitcher was fantastic. He threw 7 shutout innings, allowing 1 hit, walking 1, and striking out 11. Ra’id bin Tamir, started ng at DH against lefties for now, hit his first big league home run.
Game 3 was won 8-5 by Atlantic City. Andres Gonzales struggled again, allowing 6 runs on 8 hits and a walk in 3.2 innings. Ra’id bin Tamir hit his second home run in this one as well.

The Good-
The offense scored 23 runs in 3 games.
Mendoza’s debut was impressive. His next start will be against Charm City.

The Bad-
The Andres Gonzales start was concerning. Things don’t seem to be getting better.
The defense made 3 errors in the series.

The Player of the Series-
Andy Bishop went 7-14 with 1 double and 2 triples.

CHARLOTTE HOME VS. THE BROOKLYN ROBINS

The Recap-
Game 1 went back and forth but Brooklyn got the winning run in the top of the 10th inning.

The Good-
Not much, but Tokugawa Yamashita[] did have a solid outing.

The Bad-
The bullpen pitched very poorly, allowing 14 of the 23 runs scored by Brooklyn in the series. The team generally didn’t play well during the series.

The Player of the Series-
Brooklyn’s Emilio Morales Jr. went 7-12 with 1 home run and 7 RBI in the series.

CHARLOTTE AT THE CHARM CITY JIMMIES GAME 1

The Recap-
Charlotte played a good game, led by a solid start from Josh Clark. They led 2-0 going to the bottom of the 8th inning, but Geoffrey Dodson won the game for Charm City with a grand slam in that frame. The Jimmies won 4-2.

OTHER NOTES:

Andres Gonzales will not make his next start against Charm City on Tuesday. He has been optioned to AAA Richmond to try to find the form that made him such a successful pitcher last season in a lower pressure environment.

He will be replaced by former Jimmies starter Carl Vincent as he Reuters from the injured list. The original plan was to send Vincent to Richmond for a rehab assignment. However, it was determined that Vincent on a limited pitch count with some rust was a better fit on the road against the Jimmies than the current version of Gonzales.

Relief pitcher Tony Giles has been waived and designated for assignment. Giles pitched well for the Flyers over the last two seasons, but scouts noticed his stuff was not as good this Spring. After allowing 6 runs in 6 innings this week, Giles was informed that he would no longer be with the team.

Giles will be replaced by recently signed reliever Jim Thompson
