2057.57-Flight Log-Week 11 Recap

Post by Krathan » Thu Dec 14, 2023 11:24 am

In this edition of Flight Log, the Flyers almost have a good week of games.

The week started with a 2 game series against the Jacksonville Hurricanes.

Both games in the series went 11 innings.

In game 1, Stan Seymour drove in 2 in the 9th and 1 in the 11th to give the Flyers a 3-2 win.

In game 2, Chris McFadden tied the game in the 9th but the Hurricanes scored in the bottom of the 11th for a 4-3 win.

The Flyers then hosted the Montreal in their On the Road at Home series.

Game 1 was highlighted by an outstanding start by Andres Gonzales, who pitched a complete game in the 5-2 victory. The bad news from this game is that Robert Menzies was hit by a pitch that broke his thumb. He will miss at least another 6 weeks with the injury. He was playing extremely well since coming off the injured list just 3 weeks ago.

Game 2 was a slugfest, in which the teams combined for 32 hits, including 13 extra base hits, and 18 runs. The Blazers won 11-7.

The series finale was another extra inning game. The teams battled back and forth, hitting a combined 4 home runs and heading into extras tied at 5. The game was decided on a Miguel Martinez 12th inning blast that put the Blazers ahead for good. Montreal won 6-5.

With 3 games decided by just 1 run in extra innings, this week could have easily been a good week for the Flyers. However, they only won 2 of 5 games and fell back in the hunt for the playoffs.
