Spring Training can be a hazard for teams. You have to have a nice balance of playing a guy enough where he is ready for the season but not playing him too much to try and avoid burnout or even worse, an injury. Even with trying to balance that out, and trying to err on the side of caution, injuries still happen.
The injury bug hit the Cougars bullpen early in Spring Training this season. And, unfortunately, its not one of the 1-2 week nagging injuries to a fringe bullpen piece. Eleven games into Spring Training, after having only thrown 6.1 innings, Cougars' Closer, Sebastian Seabert had a little bit of shoulder inflammation that will keep him out of the game until after the All Star break.
Seabert was brought over in the November 2051 trade with Twin Cities that also saw Jamie Barber and Mark Moore head to Charlotte.
Seabert will be replaced by RP Michael Dixon. Dixon throws 98-100mph with above average movement. His repertoire includes a fastball, slider, changeup mix. Dixon will most likely split his time as Closer with John McClain as well.
