C-Notes 2052.02 - Trade Tracker

Post by GoldenOne » Mon Aug 29, 2022 2:02 pm

This is going to be a fun little exercise in seeing just how crazy and fun the trading world can be in the BBA. As you might be aware, I like to make trades. They usually make sense to me but I am sure there have been a few that didnt make sense to a lot of people (especially in the early years.) After trading for SP Thomas Turner a couple of sims ago, I thought it would be fun to track how he came (back) to Charlotte. (For the sake of this article, we'll be leaving out the others in the trade unless they are fairly significant.)

On 12/1/2049 the Cougars traded Turner to the Twin Cities River Monsters for P Rubén bin Majid al Din, P Bill Meadows, P Pedro Villareal, and P Pablo Alcantara. All four of those guys from TWC are still on the Cougars' roster. Meadows and Villareal are hanging out in AA waiting on injuries but al Din and Alcantara are firmly cemented in the Cougars' pitching staff.

A short 6.5 months later, Turner was on the move again. This time he was sent to Des Moines for P Jamie Barber, C Andy Elmer, and MIF Brian Browning.

On 11/9/2051, Jamie Barber was traded from TWC to Charlotte, along with P Mark Moore and P Sebastian Seabert for P Haravira Chandar and P Curt Fields. (Chandar was immediately traded to Omaha but nobody cares about them so we wont follow that part of the story.) Barber and Seabert remain with the Cougars.

On 11/16/2051, Mark Moore was traded from the Cougars to Des Moines for Thomas Turner, 2B Guillermo Fuentes (who was subsequently released), and P Joe Shaw.

So, if you are keeping score at home, that's:
Charlotte
- Has Turner (75 POT), al Din (65), Meadows (45), Villareal (45), Alcantara (50), Barber (80), Seabert (75), and Shaw (50)
- Lost Chandar (80), Fields (70), and Moore (50)

See, trading can be fun. Just dont ask about the trades I've regretted - there are just as many as those.

Glad this worked out well for you too. Here is how it looked on my end combing the Char/Omaha trades and also flipping a player I got in one of the trades for Healy.

Lost
Barber .9 war
Seabert 0
Moore .8
Mouton -.3

Total 1.4

Gained
Fields 1.5
Martinez 1.2
Barron 2.3
Woodger .3
Healy 1.4

Total 6.7

Dont forget to mention Chandar's 7-8 weeks of injuries so far this season! Granted, he has a 1.4 WAR so far this season even with those injuries but I'd rather have Barber's 0.9WAR and still playing every 5 days.

Chandar never played a game on my team. I didn't gain nor lose him. Just flipped him cause trades are fun.

And now Turner is on his way to Montreal. He sure does get around.
