C-Notes 2051.08 - Pedro Traded

Post by GoldenOne » Fri Jun 10, 2022 12:39 pm

OF/DH Pedro Huerta was a star when he was traded by the Edmonton Jackrabbits to the Charlotte Cougars in April 2049. For his previous two seasons combined in Edmonton, he was batting approximately .324/.371/.562.

That magic continued when he was traded to the Cougars. During his 2049 season with the Cougars, he hit .344/.371/.633. Huerta seemed to have found a home in the warmer climate of Charlotte and GM Golden looked like a genius. Huerta would go on to be an All Star and win the Puckett Award at DH for the 2049 season.

But the bottom seemed to have dropped out on Huerta for his 2050 season (although, it also could have been a factor of the entire dumpster-fire that was the Cougars in 2050.) In 2050, Huerta managed a career-low for every category of hi slash line when he only managed a .258/.312/.436. GM Golden wrote the 2050 season off for everyone and was expecting his team to at least be close to career averages for the 2051 season.

With the team having its hottest start in its 12 year history, and most players on the team exceeding career averages, the spotlight was on Huerta for being a player the team needed but was not producing. Through 17 games of the 2051 season, Huerta was hitting a dismal .246/324/.431. GM Golden is not known for his patience and found a new home for Huerta in Atlantic City, getting OF Júlio Uribe, who was off to a career year before a herniated disc sent him to the IL for 5-6 weeks, in return.

Oddly enough, before Uribe was even added to the 40-man roster, he was released by the Cougars.

Rex Foster should have waited another sim to sign. Duggan isn't a bad consultation prize.
