C-Notes 2046.08 - Smallwood Gives Cougars Big Wood

The #5 overall pick in the 2046 draft went to the Charlotte Cougars. The Cougars quickly settled on SP Kyle Smallwood, a 20-year old lefty of the I-Team from Apple College, and born in Toronto. While the Cougars initially thought about sending him directly to Charlotte to start his career but ultimately gave him $6.5M and sent him to AAA Richmond.

Smallwood has been nothing but dazzling in Richmond. In his 3 starts, Smallwood, on a very limited pitch count, has no decisions but in his 13.0 innings he's pitched, is maintaining a 1.38 ERA coupled with a 0.77 WHIP. While he has given up 8 hits, none of them have left the park. He also has an amazing 18 strikeouts to 2 walks.

Will the Cougars be able to keep Smallwood in Richmond until September? "Big Wood for Smallwood" t-shirts are already starting to be seen at Family Dollar Field and if he keeps pitching the way he has been, it wont be long before GM Golden finds himself wearing one of those t-shirts himself.
