In his first start since being called up to the big leagues, Charlotte Cougars star young pitcher Thomas Turner was impressive in his debut.
On a strict pitch count in order to ease him back after an elbow injury, Turner threw 4.1 innings of shut out baseball at McDermott Park at Ebbets Field in Brooklyn. Over 76 pitches, Turner threw 46 of them for strikes. However, he managed to only strike out 1 batter while also walking only one. Turner constantly put himself under stress though, giving up 8 hits in those 4 innings and not getting the luck of inducing any groundballs.
His next start will be at home on the 19th, versus a good Boise team that is currently leading the Frontier Division. Hopefully Turner can settle his nerves a little more and keep the Spuds off the base paths.
