C-Notes 2045.08 - Turner Shines Bright

Post by GoldenOne » Sat Dec 26, 2020 6:27 pm

A lot of fanfare has been made over #1 overall draft pick Phil Cole, and for good reason. The #3 overall pick, Thomas Turner, seems to be shining almost as bright away from the spot light.

In his first 3 professional starts, for the AAA Richmond Panthers, Turner has 1 win and 2 No Decisions. All 3 were recorded as Quality Starts however. In his first start, Turner went 8.0 innings, giving up 3 earned runs on 6 hits (1 HR) while recording 3 walks and 7 strikeouts, all while throwing 119 pitches. (Seems the Charlotte Front Office followed the El Paso model in forgetting to tell their AAA Manager to go easy on the new stud.)

Turner's second outing got a little better. He was more efficient with his pitches, throwing 86 through 7.0 innings, giving up 4 hits, 3 earned runs (1 HR), walking 1 while striking out 7.

Turner seemed to be getting comfortable with his new teammates by his third start. This one was a 90-pitch, 7.1 inning outing, only giving up 3 hits and 1 earned run (not a HR), walking 1 while striking out 6 for his first win as a professional. The Charlotte Front Office was even happier to see Turner induce 11 groundballs while only seeing 3 flyballs.

If the Cougars find themselves with a shot at the playoffs this season, and Turner can keep up outings like these, dont be surprised to see Turner getting a charter flight sent to take him from Richmond to Charlotte!
