C-Notes 2045.06 - Cougars Better Than MIF

For the Charlotte Cougars this season, the old adage of "the sum is greater than the parts" is certainly holding true when it comes to Charlotte's Middle Infield tandem.
The Cougars were expecting big things from Robert 'Tosser' Menzies and Roberto Viramontas this season. So far, those two players are among the worst (as per their current WAR) on the team!
The team slash line stands at .279/.345/.424. Viramontas's slash line: .197/.313/.258 for a -0.2 WAR. And the prize acquisition of the offseason, Menzies: .179/.286/.231, for a team worst (though tied) -0.5 WAR. Since WAR is more than just offense, the Cougars have a total of 11 errors. Viramontas has 1 while Menzies has 4 with a -1.0 ZR.
The Cougars currently stand at 13-9, just 2.5 games back as we near the end of April. Menzies is showing signs of life, going 9 for 32 in his last 7 games while Viramontas still seems to be struggling, going 4 for 27 in his last 10 games. If the two of them can figure out how to hit in the coming months, the Cougars could find themselves at the top of their division as we near the All Star Break!
