Veteran Catcher John Hale signed a 2-year, $4M deal ($2.M in 2045 and a Team Option for $1.5 for 2046) with the Cougars this past offseason. Four games into the season, Hale already has the Cougar Front Office staff already annotating on their boards that they will be picking up his option for next season.
In just the first four games, of which Hale only played in three, the left=handed hitting Hale is 7 for 11 with 4 doubles, 1 homerun, 3 RBIs, and 5 runs scored, with 2 walks to go along with his 2 strikeouts. That's good enough for an amazing slash line of .636/.692/1.273. Oh yeah, he's also 1 for 1 in stolen base attempts. Oh yeah, let's also add that Hale has thrown out 3 of the 4 would-be base stealers so far this season.
While these rates are obviously something that a 30-year old with a career slash line of .234/.312/.446 can maintain, he's showing so far may just be what the Cougars need to get that spark to believe in themselves for this season and make it a season to remember in Charlotte!
