C-Notes 2044.12 - Irwin Gets His Day

1B/2B Bob Irwin has by far been one of, if not the, best hitters for the Cougars this season. Brought to the team as a first round Rule 5 pick from the Seattle Storm, Irwin has been stellar. Though its been hard to find him a defensive place to play, splitting time between 2B and 1B, he seems to have settled in nicely at 1B following recent additions to the Cougars. While definitely not your typical power-hitting first baseman, getting on base and running is what the Cougars love and he seems more than happy to do just that.

For his efforts this season, Irwin was finally recognized as the Johnson League Rookie of the Month for July. During the month he hit .419/.440/.600 with 15 doubles and 2 triples. Irwin also scored 19 times and drove in 17 runs. For the season Irwin is currently batting .347/.378/.478 with 26 doubles, 3 triples, 2 home run with 35 runs scored and 33 RBIs.

Irwin certainly wont be receiving a ticket to return back to Seattle this season - time to buy a house in Charlotte.
