July 28th was quite the day for the Cougars. SP Emilio Brazini took the mound and after getting beat around in his last six starts (1-4, 26 earned runs in 32.1 innings), the Cougars were just hoping to see a quality start out of their staff Ace.
Brazini did more than your average quality start. He faced 28 Montreal Blazers in his 7 innings of work and struck out a Charlotte Cougars record 16 batters. Brazini beat the previous record of 13 Ks set earlier this season by the former Cougar, Adergazoz Ouakili.
After the game, Brazini had this to say: "My last six starts, the guys saw a lot of action behind me. It was my turn to give them a break."
GM Golden commented, "Milio was great tonight. He's a leader on this team and he took the ball tonight with a mission in mind. We were just looking for him to keep it close for us, and he certainly did that. It will most likely be a while before we see that record broken."
