C-Notes 2044.09 - Cougars Jump Big Into IFA

In a strange move, the Charlotte Cougars signed International Free Agent Catcher Shi-min Xi yesterday, giving him a $15,000,005 signing bonus. Considering that this was about $10M more than what he was asking for, and about $11M more than what IFAs of similar talent-levels were signing for, one can only assume that GM Golden had had enough playing around with previous bids and decided to go strong to sign Xi.

We caught up with the GM this morning to ask him about the signing:

"Well, we like Xi. Having a nephew of the Chinese President on your team doesnt hurt if you are looking to expand your market. But, that's not what we offered. Take out a zero, that's what we offered. We believe the system has been hacked. We're looking into it."

When asked if he could expand on his claims -

"Our crack security team, led by Barney Fife III, has been able to track down an incursion into the system emanating from a ball bearing shop in Provo, Utah, owned by Boyd Aviation. We'll find who did this and take care of it, internally."

"Obviously this severely damages our bottom line for the year. I had some plans for that money. We'll just have to adjust. Life sucks sometimes. People die for odd reasons. You adjust to whatever life throws at you."
