Charlotte Cougars Pitcher, Adergazoz Ouakili has had a somewhat rough start to start off the season.
Last season, Ouakili went 8-8 with a 3.03 ERA in 184 innings, 32 starts. He also had 226 Ks, to 37 walks while on his way to a WHIP of 0.94 and a FIP of 2.79. With those kinds of numbers, the Cougars were expecting great things from Ouakili this season. However, April was not a fun month for Adergazoz.
In April, Ouakili may have gone 2-1in his 6 starts and his 37 Ks to 5 walks but his 6.04 ERA was a large concern for the Cougar Front Office.
There was one bright spot in April, however. During his April 22nd start against Atlantic City, Ouakili went 6.1 innings, giving up 1 earned run (a dinger to Keith Dean) in his 84 pitches. On this day, however, Ouakili also set the Charlotte Cougars regular season record with 13 Ks! (The post-season record still stands at zero.)
That start seemed to jump start Ouakili into May though. In his 2 starts in May, Ouakili has gone 1-1 with a 2.31 ERA and 14 Ks to 5 walks. Hopefully the good times keep rolling for Ouakili.
