In a surprising move, the Charlotte Cougars Head Coach Tom Chambers has decided to send star SP Keijo 'Coach' Reini to bullpen for the time being. When asked why, Chambers said,
"Look Keijo is a great kid, with a great future. We're 3-6 in extra innings games and 4-15 in 1-run games. Some of those games were lost before getting to the pen but far too many of them have been blown from the 7th inning on. We've got to shut folks down. Our offense is a mess right now so we need all the help we can get from the pitching staff. I'm trying something, we'll see how it works out."
Reini is currently 3-5 in 11 games started with an ERA of 4.50 and a WHIP of 1.16. He has 75 strikeouts to only 20 walks. Last season, Reini gave up a league-leading 34 HRs and is currently on pace to give up 57 this season.
Reini is being replaced in the rotation by a rookie that still has developing to do in SP Jeffrey Russell. Hold on to your seats Cougar fans, things might be getting bumpier.
