C-Notes 2043.04 - How Long Will This One Last?

Post by GoldenOne » Sat Jun 13, 2020 8:35 am

The fourth draft in Charlotte Cougars saw the Cougars selecting #1 overall for the fourth year in a row as well. And, for the third year in a row, the Cougars selected a Starting Pitcher with their selection. Please welcome, Warren 'Prickly Pear' Moore to the Cougars organization!

Moore, a 22 year old from Oklahoma City, OK, is a big (we're talking 6'6", 215 pounds) left-handed pitcher throws consistently in the 97-99 mph range. When developed, he should have great stuff and control with about league-average movement. Moore's intelligence is high though so despite the average movement, he should be able to fool a lot of hitters with his four elite pitches - fastball, slider, curveball, and changeup. Being 22 already, Moore is not quite as developed as one would think or expect but it shouldn't be long before we see him in a Cougars uniform.

When asked about Moore, GM Golden had this to say -
"Moore, yeah, what's not to like? His age? Whatever. He was born in December, yeah, you're going to be a little older coming out of college with a December birthday. He's fine. He didn't figure it out until last season in college. He's a hard worker, smart, and a leader. I'll take where he is at his age over kids right out of high school; he's at least had a chance to figure life out a little bit. We expect to see him in a Cougars uniform as early as next season. By the time he gets through arbitration, one decent contract and by then he'll be looking towards retirement. It actually works out best for all of us."

When asked about the possibility of trading Moore away like he had done with Amos Swallows and Dave Lee the last two seasons, Golden commented, "Nah, Moore will be with us for a while. Look, we're still a new team. Amos and Dave, we loved those guys, but we're trying to build a team here. Amos is still a few seasons away from the BBA and Dave is probably a couple as well. We dont have the luxury of waiting until those guys get here before fans start losing interest. We got a lot of good players in exchange for those two guys and now some of the guys we knew would take some time to develop during the expansion draft are showing up, we're starting to get there. We're expecting to be more competitive this season, and moving forward, and Warren Moore is going to be a big part of that before too long."

little behind on development, but in this draft I think he was the pretty clear #1 (if for no other reason than he still has the potentials at that advanced age and has not lumped to shit already).

The one oddity about Moore was his magical ratings bump between 2042 and 2043. Does that worry anyone?
