C-Notes 2042.5 - Third Times a Charm

In its third season of existence, the Charlotte Cougars find themselves once again drafting at #1 overall in the 2042 amateur draft. Each of the first two drafts have been fairly predictable in who the Cougars would select - 2039 was Quinn 'Short Stuff' Richardson and 2040 was Amos Swallows.

Richardson, straight out of high school, developed quickly and found himself in Charlotte last season as a September call-up, proving he'll be with the big league club for seasons to come. Amos however, found himself out of Charlotte before the ink dried on his contract. Amos found himself traded to Edmonton for 3 major league players and a AAA outfielder that, like Richardson, finds himself on the big league club this season, and a AAA starting pitcher that is expected to be a September call-up this season, if he isnt called up before then.

The 2042 selection was another no-brainer. Twenty-one year old Dave Lee is a left handed pitcher from Shady Side, MD. With an 8/7/9 Potential (currently at a 4/6/6), Lee was an easy selection in a league that is currently hungry for the next great starting pitcher. With an elite Circle Change-up and Knuckle Curve, Lee compliments those pitches with his above average sinker.

There were some brief rumors that Charlotte might be willing to trade Lee for something similar to last season's deal for Swallows, but with Swallows still in Rookie ball and Lee looking to be heading to at least AA this season, Lee's path to the BBA looks a lot shorter. The Charlotte brass will be looking to have Lee anchor their rotation soon enough, and be there for many years.

Lee was the clear Number 1 pick. I was really hoping he wasn't "that clear" though! haha
