C-Notes 2041,13 - Haamid Who?

A lot of talk in Charlotte this season has been about the future of SP Jafar Haamid. A month ago, people in Charlotte were wondering what happened when the promising young pitcher was traded to Valencia for 20yo LF Brad Parkinson.

For those not "in the know," GM Golden answered press questions with a quick - "It's all part of The Plan®"

The Plan®? We haven't heard The Plan® mentioned since the finishing touches were still being put on Family Dollar Field a couple of seasons ago.

Haamid is 0-2 with 1 save in four starts (5 games), and an ERA of 6.94 (almost 1.5 runs higher than in Charlotte.) The Plan®? Make room for another 24yo SP in Keijo 'Coach' Reini.

Reini was a September call-up that was thrown into his first start the day he got the call. If he was nervous being in the black and white pinstripes, on the road, against the venerable Rockville Pikemen, he didnt show it. Reini went 7 innings, giving up 7 hits and only 3 earned runs. He also struck out 6 and walked one on his way to his first BBA win.

Perhaps the nerves had time to catch up to him in his second start though. This time, playing in front of a home crowd and against one of the few teams below the Cougars in the standings, the Wichita Aviators. Reini only managed to go 3.2 inning against Wichita, giving up 7 earned runs with 6 Ks to 5 walks. His teammates tried to help him out with 8 runs in the same timeframe, leaving Reini with the no-decision.

Reini is still expected to lead the staff next season though, at least that seems like that's The Plan®.
