Since being recalled from AAA Richmond in early July, 22yo Rookie Jafar Haamid has given the Cougars cause for hope. While Haamid brought a lot of hopes to the Cougars this spring, Haamid was hot and cold to start the season. Even though his first start was a 7 inning, 1 run, 8 strikeout performance, his last 5 starts before being sent down to AAA to "work on some things" all saw 5 earned runs each.
However, in his 5 starts since returning to Charlotte, Haamid has 4 quality starts, 4 wins, and 32 Ks in 34 innings, while only conceding 12 earned runs. Haamid seems to have a good hold on staying with the big league club the rest of the season and is sure to find a spot in the rotation next year.
