Charlotte Cougars first ever draft pick (2040, #1 overall), SS Quinn 'Short Stuff' Richardson is making his case to GM Brett Golden that he wants his shot in the BBA sooner, rather than later. The switch-hitting shortstop has been a wizard with the glove since he was drafted last season but his bat seemed like it would take a little more time. The Charlotte Front Office had enough faith in him that they started him out in Short A Adirondack where he only managed a .232/.293/.419 slash line.
That confidence carried over to the 2041 season where Richardson skipped Single-A Danville and was thrown right into AA New Bern. Richardson seemed to thrive with the extra confidence thrown upon him, slashing his way to a .294/.359/.553 first half of the season (65 games). Those numbers go along with 17 HRs, 11 doubles, 2 triples, and 5 SBs. Defensively, Richardson excelled with a .990 fielding percentage (3 errors), a range of 4.36, a ZR of +5.5, and an efficiency rating of 1.069.
Those numbers got Richardson selected to the Donaldo League All Star team where he decided to make sure everyone knew his name. Richardson went 2 for 3 with 2 HRs, 3 runs scored, 5 RBI, one walk, and no strikeouts on his way to Player of the Game Honors.
Deservedly so, especially following the recent trade of Miguel Pacheco (though rumors have it that Pacheco was traded because of RIchardson's development) Richardson has since been promoted to AAA Richmond.
With Charlotte's season already in an unrecoverable state, dont expect to see Richardson rushed to the big leagues in 2041. It may take an unbelievable couple of months in his AAA performance to even expect for Richardson to be a September call-up but we will no doubt see Richardson in Charlotte's black and white pinstripes at the start of the 2042 season.
