The Charlotte Cougars drafted a pitcher with huge potential with the number one overall pick in the 2041 draft. So, what else would you do with the first pick in the 2nd round other than draft a catcher to come up through the system with that pitcher?

With a knuckleballer like Amos Swallows, you've got to have a catcher with great ability behind the plate. Alfonso Jareño has just that. The 21 year-old out of Mejicanos, El Salvador has only one error in his 110 games played during his college career. Jareño is no slouch with his arm either, throwing out 32% of would be base-stealers during college as well.

Offensively, it seems as though Jareño might be already ready to jump straight into the BBA. He looks to be fully developed at 5/6/5/5/6, with just needing to find a little more of that gap power that Jareño seems to possess. While not the offensive stud that can be found throughout the BBA these days, Jareño has enough talent at the plate, and more than enough behind it, to keep him in the game for years to come.
