The first All Star for the Charlotte Cougars was Sancho Castillo. Sancho was playing SS for the Cougars but is probably best slated as a third baseman, if you care about factoring in defense.

The 23yo from Mao, Dominican Republic, was having what would constitute an average season on most other teams. However, for the Cougars, he was an easy pick for their All Star. The 8th Round Pick in the 2040 Expansion Draft, from the Las Vegas Hustlers, was rewarded by the Cougars by being traded to the Boise Spuds just a month later.

Castillo ended his Cougar career hitting .287/.344/.451. In his 470 At Bats, Castillo had 34 doubles, 8 triples, and 9 HRs, scoring 61 runs and driving in 50 RBIs. Castillo was especially good against RHPs, going .302/.354/.492.

The Cougars wish Sancho good luck in the future. He will always be remembered as the 1st All Star here in Charlotte.
