C-Notes 2039.1 - Here We Come Charlotte

Post by GoldenOne » Fri Aug 02, 2019 9:18 pm

In a move that was announced earlier this season, there will be a new BBA team in Charlotte, NC starting with the 2040 season. Details of the team are starting to come to light. The first two announcements come in the form of the name of the majority owner - John "Ghost" Weber - and the name of the new GM - Brett "The Brain" Golden.

John "Ghost" Weber is originally from Upstate NY and owns 65% of the team. Weber's money comes from an early investment in BitCoin. Weber, now 59 years old, has been a lifelong baseball fan that held an interest in the Loudoun Hounds in the mid-2010s. In a nod to tie-in and get the fans excited in Charlotte, Ric Flair has been announced as owning 25% of the team. When asked about his excitement level to bring the BBA to Charlotte, Flair said, "Woooooo!"

The surprising announcement was the hiring of Brett "The Brain" Golden as the new GM. Golden will come to Charlotte after 6 seasons in Nashville. In his first 5 season in Nashville, Golden's Goats posted a record of 327-483. As of this writing, the 2039 Goats are 42-56.Golden, hampered by a bad stadium deal and a stingy owner in Nashville, is excited to start from scratch and prove his mettle here in Charlotte.

Asked about the hiring of Golden, Weber said, "He's my grandson, I bought the team for him. He'll get the support that he needs and the freedom he deserves and will bring a Landis to Charlotte before you know it." Asked to comment about Weber's statements, Flair was quoted as saying, "Woooooo!"

The North Carolina Nature Boys? If Charlotte's stadium doesn't have a steel cage instead of netting and the jerseys don't have feather trim, I'll be deeply disappointed.

At 90 years old, I hope Flair makes it to opening day...
