This is the tenth, and final article in my series taking a look at the top prospects in my organization. This article will cover my top relief pitchers.
I realized I hadn’t posted this with the others.
1 The top prospect, Jose Gonzalez, has already found his way to the big leagues, throwing 16.2 innings across 12 games in the regular season. He ended the year with a 2-1 record, 1 save, and an ERA of 2.70. He also appeared in 8 playoff games, going 1-1 with an ERA of 4.20 (74 FIP-) in 15 innings. He allowed just 1 run in 5 appearances against Montreal and Charm City but struggled against Nashville, allowing 6 runs in 5.2 innings across 3 appearances. He is almost fully developed with potentials of 5/6/8/7 (Stuff/Movement?HRA/Control). He has a fastball, sinker, and slider, with potential ratings of 6/6/5. His slider is only a 4 at the moment. His GB% is 55.
2 The second player on this list is Kayahan Al-Suhrawardi. He was a scouting discovery in June of 2057. He has potential ratings of 6/6/6/7 with 4 pitches with potentials between 6 and 8. He is 21 years old and still needs to grow into those potentials. He only has 3 stamina. If that were to improve, he might become a starting pitcher prospect instead. He spent 2 years in rookie ball, going 2-2 with 21 saves and an ERA of 2.11 in 37 appearances during that time. In 2062, he moved up to short A and went 3-4 with 17 saves and an ERA of 3.90.
3 The next player on the list is Virgilio DalSoglio. He was taken in the fourth round of the 2062 draft. The 19 year old right hander is fragile and spent 2 weeks on the IL while with short A Adirondack following the draft. When he was healthy, he pitched quite well for the Beavers, going 4-0 with an ERA of 2.55 in 14 appearances. He still needs to grow into his potentials of 8/5/5/6 and could use a bump in HRA because his GB% is only 42. He has a fastball with 11 potential and a slider with a potential of 9.
4 The fourth prospect on the list is Carlos Hernandez. He was taken in the 17th round of the 2057 draft. At 22 years old, he needs to have a good year of development to get closer to his potentials of 7/5/6/5. He has a fastball with 10 potential and a curveball with a potential of 9. Hernandes has spent most of his pro career at the short A level, but pitched very well in AA this year. He finished 1-3 with 30 saves and an ERA of 1.76 in 43 games. It was by far his best season since joining the organization, as he had a career 5.29 ERA in Adirondack.. He showed improvement in 2061 but 2062 was a big step up. He had a lot of developmental growth the last two years. If that continues then he will be a player to keep an eye on.
5 The final player on this list is Min-ho Chon. He was a scouting discovery in December of 2060. He is 18 years old and currently in the IC. His potential ratings of 7/5/5/5 are a long way off at this point but he has 3 pitches with potential of either 7 or 8. He also has 7 stamina so depending on how things go, he could potentially be looked at as a starting pitching prospect at some point as well.
