2062.49 Charlotte has a rough start to August.

August started poorly for the Flyers.

August 1 at Cape Fear: A 2 run homer in the 2nd for Sam Butler was all that Buwono Mainaky gave up but the Flyers could only muster 2 runs of their own and the game went to extra innings. Antonio Santiago came into the game to start the bottom of the 10th and retired the first man he saw. He didn't retire another batter, allowing 3 straight singles as the Swamp Foxes walked it off for a 3-2 win.

August 2 at Cape Fear: Tony Villa and Ben Graybill homered and Jacquot Natta pitched 7 scoreless innings as the Flyers evened the series with a 3-0 win.

August 3 at Cape Fear: Charlotte led 5-3 before Ignacio Lewis gave up a 3 run bomb in the bottom of the 5th. Cape Fear went on to win 9-7.

August 4 at Cape Fear: Arturo Trevino was named the player of the game but the 2 run home run he allowed to Sam Butler led to a Swamp Fox win. The final score was 4-2.

Cape Fear now leads the season series 6-4. John Watson can't be happy about that.

The Flyers also played two games at home against Brooklyn. Charlotte jumped all over Steven Andreton in a 12-4 blowout win, fueled by home runs by Bandit Natta and Domingo Chavez.

The Flyers led the next game 6-3 after 4 innings but the Robins battled back to win 9-7.

Not only did Charlotte lose 4 of 6 games this week, but the Charm City Jimmies pulled ahead of them for the lead in the Atlantic Division as well.
