Frederick Abbottson hurriedly walked toward his boss's office. "Jeannine, is he in there?"
"Yes. Let me tell him you're here."
"Yeah. Thanks. He's going to want to hear about this right away."
Jeannine pushed a button and spoke into her headset to the general manager. "Mr. Garrison, Frederick is here to see you. He says it's important."
She turned back to the nervously fidgeting Abbottson and let him know that he could enter the office.
"Hey Fred, what's going on?"
"Mr. Garrison, I've got some...unsettling news." The general manager nodded and let his trusted employee continue. "So, Jim Slade has stepped down in Rockville."
"Ok. He's a good guy who did a good job of building up his farm system. I figured that team was going to start getting better soon. Why does his leaving have you so...anxious. Who's taking his place?"
"Woody Donahue's taking over. He's been in London the last couple of years, Boise a while back, and...I think Cairo a long time ago...but that's not the problem...not really anyway. It's what he's convinced the owner to do."
"Alright. I'm intrigued. What's the deal?"
Abbottson steadied himself and continued. "It seems that Woody convinced the ownership group that they should move the team...to Wilmington...North Carolina. There hasn't been an official announcement...but...it's happening"
"Ah, now I see it. Competition in our state...for our fans. Gotta say...I don't love that."
"Right. And it's coming at a bad time too. We've lost a lot of star power and fan favorite type players since the end of the 2060 season, with Tadataka Yoshikawa, Alejandro Chavez, and even Banger Dan playing into lower Fan Interest ratings than we had before. And now we're coming off of a losing season and Robert Menzies won't be back. Not the best time for our fans to have a shiny new toy glimmering in the corner enticing them to come play."
"Our Fan Interest and Loyalty have always been ok but this does throw a new wrinkle into it. We're going to have to think about this and figure out how to keep our fans locked in. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I'll send out a memo to get people brainstorming ideas for getting people excited about Flyers baseball this offseason. We've got work to do."

Hmm. Wonder how this will affect fan interest, if at all.

I’m curious about that too. I’ve never had a team move into the area my club is in. It’s a few hours away, but it will still be interesting if it changes anything for me.

Based on previous experience, I don't think you're in danger of losing fans. No one travels the length of I-74 unless they absolutely have to.
