The 2051 Charlotte Cougars set a new record!!

Nope, it was the record for team wins in a season. And while yes, the Cougars did set a team record for wins above Pythagorean expectations (+6), nobody really cares about that, except me. No, this record is actually a singe-season team record (modern day (1995+)). Can you guess it?

The answer to which team record the Charlotte Cougars set this season is........ Most Blown Saves!!

The Charlotte Cougars set the modern-day team Blown Saves record in 2051 with a total of 42 Blown Saves! The previous record was 39 Blown Saves set by the 2046 Madison Wolves.

The biggest offenders for the Cougars were Manuel Barrera and Augusto Ramírez. Ramírez, last season's JL Egan Award winner, lost his Closer role in May and was ultimately released by the Cougars on 25 August. Ramirez blew 7 of his 12 Save opportunities. Barrera was acquired by Charlotte on 9 June from Boise to be the Closer. He also lost the Closer role after blowing 7 of his 23 opportunities.

Charlotte's current closer, Cristián Chávez hasnt fully settled into the role as he has blown 5 of his 23 opportunities.

Based on this record, its a long-shot that the 2051 Egan Award winner will be a Charlotte Cougar, despite having won the last 4 Egan Awards. Maybe next season! (Just dont keep this up during the playoffs, please!)

Barrera was just as bad for me before the trade, if not worse. A truly impressive feat to suck at that level for such an extended period of time.
