C-Notes 2043.14 - Brooks Looking Like Da Bomb

Post by GoldenOne » Tue Jul 14, 2020 5:21 pm

While all eyes are focused on the development and potential of this year's #1 overall pick, Warren 'Prickly Pear' Moore, Charlotte's first pick in Round 3 is becoming a household name with Charlotte Front Office personnel.

Ashton Brooks is a 22 year old, average-size, left-handed pitcher from the Bronx, NY. Like most other guys that finished a college career before heading to the pros, Brooks is almost fully developed, with just a little more expected to be found in the movement of his pitches. Brooks already boasts a fully-developed, and elite, repertoire of a fastball, changeup, and splitter that keeps batters off balance. Due to his advanced abilities, Brooks was thrown right into AAA Richmond in the hopes he could fill in for those called up to the BBA club for one reason or another this season.

In his 4 games since signing his big-league contract, Brooks has done nothing but impress. In 4 games, Brooks has gone 2-0, pitched 25.1 innings, and given up only 13 hits (1 HR). He has found himself with a 1.42 ERA and a nice 0.67 WHIP, and a staggering 29 strikeouts to only 4 walks! Notably, all 4 earned runs were given up in a single game. In his 3 other starts, Brooks gave up zero runs!

With any sort of bump in Brooks's control, he may well end up just as valuable as Moore. It certainly seems like he might be eating that fine buffet in the Charlotte clubhouse before Moore will at least.
