An exception to the rule?

Post by cheekimonk » Mon Jul 03, 2023 10:56 am

I've always deliberately, and at all costs, avoid building a team from FA. But I'm losing 18 players off my 40-man at the end of the year and all but a few of them are MLB guys. Just bad luck I guess. But what do you guys think? Is this an exception to the rule of building thru FA? I have maybe 3 or 4 prospects that I could give a look, but I don't want to start their clock. I just have a big gap of old guys moving on and young guys that aren't far enough along in their development.

I mean what’s the other option, trading from the farm and making waiver claims? Go crazy in rule 5?

I know. I've never had a clear "old guys" camp and "young guys" like my roster right now. There's going to be a middle period where we take tryouts at CVS

Changing the GBC's "reputation" to Independent league level has really screwed everything up. I'm not sure there is much you can do.

I actually don't want to resign all of the guys. But extending 9 while 9 others walk is better than losing 18 in one swoop.

Yeah. When I took over the Pharaohs this past off-season there were like 4 guys on the big league roster. It’s a different world.
