2051 Playoffs : A Final Twist?

Post by datom25 » Mon Jul 25, 2022 7:56 am

Hi all

In the Discord it was mentioned that the GBC had a championship, 1st place plays 2nd, best of 9.

However, are we sure OOTP is err, set up for that? Reason I ask is two sources of information:
1) StatsPlus has Playoff Odds entirely set on winning division, none for make playoff
2) There is no wildcard chase in the OOTP Pennant Chase screen

I can't check OOTP League Settings but if someone could...
Montreal Blazers (2052-): Playoffs 2052, 2054 (2-6)
Sao Paulo Pilots (2051-2): Playoffs 2051 (0-5)

StatsPlus isn't accurate for playoffs, I believe. For BBA it only recognizes 3 wild card teams, when there are, in fact, 4 teams. Perhaps @recte44 or @CTBrewCrew can assist.

Ah, cool. This is most definitely the likeliest explanation then.

That is correct - in Brewster its division winners then next 4 teams base on winning %. Div winners get a bye.

In GBC for this year its top 2 teams. Perhaps looking to expand that next year so %ages of teams that make it match that of the Brewster. Its too late for that this season

Top 2 teams I think is great! My concern was just that in the normal places where it lists the wild-card chase (stats plus playoff odds, OOTP league 'penant chase') there is no record of GBC having a wild-card.

The explanations are:
1) It is an OOTP/StatsPlus quirk of having a one-division wild-card (most likely!)
2) The playoffs aren't setup to be 'Division Winner plus Wildcard' in OOTP, which could happen if the previous setup was Division Winner only before the league got consolidated (unlikely, but maybe worth checking - I think you need to be an admin tho to see the league settings)
