BBA & UMEBA

Post by Clayman » Wed Nov 04, 2020 10:56 am

I'm thinking although doesn't seem to be official but Ted looks like he's the new Twin Cities GM either that or I'm reading things that aren't there.

1) Totally agree Ted should be a BBA GM, his activity specially his podcasts and insights into not only the BBA but OOTP as well are a bonus to the Brewster.

2) No I'm not thinking of myself with this post but 2, 3 GM if you include Brett should be Infront of me although I'm thinking Brett would decline although he'd have to confirm that.

Anyway my question will the UMEBA be bypassed in the future when a BBA team becomes open? Or is this just a 1 off because of Ted's input into the Brewster? Sorry 2 questions ;)

This decision was primarily based on participation points. Ted has earned more than anyone in UMEBA by a large margin.

So to answer your question, no UMEBA will not be bypassed in the future if the most deserving candidate is in UMEBA.

You, know, unless we lose Mike Simon in Madison or Geoff Webb in Des Moines, neither of which seems likely, UMEBA GMs should probably be glad I fell on this grenade. Now you are more likely to dodge the Heartland when you come over. I considered passing simply because I might like to win a division title now and again.

So the one with most PP that obviously isn't a BBA GM or else Ron would be GM of every team :)

Hope you don't think it's a question about you or the decision, I totally understand why the decision was made and agree. I look forward to your podcasts, hopefully more so with you having a team. I haven't won a title in a league since around 2010 so winning kind of goes over my head by now :D

No worries. I don't feel entirely great about skipping you guys either. Well, skipping isn't the right word either. I was offered and UMEBA and if I had accepted, I'd have been first in line that way. I just didn't really want to put the effort into an UMEBA team that I know I'd be unable to keep myself from doing, just to discard it. And I wanted to do a bunch of BBA analysis to make content, and being in the UMEBA might have held me back by dividing my attention. Thanks for understanding.

Hey Neil. You guys in UMEBA are doing great, and you personally are near or at the front of any list for a BBA team among that group right now. I wouldn't be surprised to see you get the next opening, though we decide on those things as a group.

But Ted has 155 PPT this year, which literally surpasses the entire amount of PPT earned by all teams combined in the UMEBA this season. It's also higher than any UMEBA GM has earned cumulatively.

We've put several former GMs into the UMEBA, and this isn't a lifetime achievement award; he's earned the spot. Even if we'd never heard of Ted before this year, he'd have still been our first choice. So it's not precisely a one off; there's no reason why someone else couldn't come out of the woodwork and blow us away. It's very unlikely to happen, however.
