The McMullen's.

Post by Clayman » Sun Mar 08, 2020 6:27 am

Hank McMullen VII will be chief reporter for the Centaurs Weekly, he may well be a novice when it comes to reporting but his family have been reporting on baseball back to the 1800s.

Hank McMullen
Born:- San Francisco, California 14th October 1860.
Died:- Guthrie, Oklahoma 4th May 1892.

He found work on the Union Pacific railroad as a stores manager, his day off on Sundays he would take in a ball game at one of the towns and would write in his diary about the game. It was fete that would ripple down the McMullen family tree for generations, one day Mr Jay Gould the owner of the Union Pacific Railway bumped into Hank, literally. Hank dropped his diary and Mr Gould picked it up, it turned out Mr Gould was a baseball fan. The two talked baseball all afternoon, it ended with Hank being offered a job reporting on the Central & Union Pacific League a publication that Mr Gould hoped would help the morale of the workers but also would spread the name of the railroad.

Hank McMullen II
Born:- Guthrie, Oklahoma 7th September 1885
Died:- Saint-Mihiel, France 14th September 1918

Like his father before him Hank McMullen II took up the pen, however it wouldn't be sports he reported on it would be the news in general. His career would be a short one as he was killed at Saint-Mihiel reporting on the American Expeditionary Forces in 1918 when a bomb crater he was sharing with four American troops took a direct hit from a German mortar killing all five men.

Hank McMullen III
Born:- New York, New York 8th March 1910
Died:- Bastogne, Belgium 28th December 1944

Another McMullen who would see and report on an armed conflict, another who would not return home. Hank McMullen III was fatally shot by a sniper when trying to help a wounded soldier from the First Army of the United States.

Hank McMullen IV
Born:- New York, New York 13th June 1940
Died:- Boston, Massachusetts 14th August 2001

A music reporter who spent the 60s in London, then moved back to the US during the disco era. Became friends with such people as Warhol and Bowie, would later start a warts and all book about the 60s & 70s but never completed it. The draft of the book he had done before his death was never found, this lead to conspiracy theories on what and who was in the book.

Hank McMullen V
Born:- Boston, Massachusetts 14th April 1966
Died:- London, England 11th July1989

Another of the McMullen clan who would see action reporting on the front lines, this time in the Falklands War, happily for this McMullen he returned home in full health. On his return he has championed the cause of not only servicemen returning from the Falklands but other conflicts that British personnel have returned with mental health issues.

Hank McMullen VI
Born:- London, England 12th May 1986
Reporter:- Wigan & District Baseball League

Started of life as a beat reporter for a local baseball league in the north of England, he later gave up the reporters pen for the pen of an author writing the children's books The Adventures of Dudley, a boy who gets in and out of scrapes through his day dreams.

Hank McMullen VII
Born:- London, England 5th November 2006
Reporter:- UMEBA

Hank McMullen VII is the seventh news and sports reporter within the McMullen family that can trace it's family roots within the publishing world to 1884, it was in 1884 that the first McMullen to be given the name of Hank reported on the Central & Union Pacific League. Hank McMullen VII started his reporting career working for the UMEBA Monthly, however his tenure at that publication was cut short due to inaccuracies in his reporting which he denies. The UMEBA Monthlys loss is the Centaurs Weekly gain.
