Acevado Headed for Retirement
Vicente Acevado said it was an easy decision to announce that this will be his last year of professional baseball.

"I'm 43 years old," the Cairo Chariot Archers BC starting pitcher said. "Some of the guys in the clubhouse are young enough to be my son. It's time to go before I start getting white hairs."

hah just noticed Baltasar Frontiero is apparently listening to the barbs being thrown at him recently. He went bonkers this sim. 6 games, 12 for 19, 5 homeruns, 12 rbi, 4 walks and a slash line of .632/.708/1.474/2.182. That's insane...

another fun fact. Istanbul is 19-22 but lost another walkoff game this sim to run that record to 1-7. If that pen were holding on to those games, the standings would look a lot different...

Couple of things:

Baltasar Frontiero is a Hall of Fame name. Just sayin'

Also, you notice I signed a ton of free agent pitchers - I basically had to re-do the Ho Chi Minh City staff. They had three (terrible) relievers ... and that was the entire bullpen. The starting staff was A). Exhausted, and B). utterly horrendous. So, I released about 80 percent of the staff and started over.

One surprising thing: I offered minor league contracts to a couple of guys who said they weren't interested in playing for us ... and they actually signed!

Turned out to be a good thing for the boys in Ho Chi Minh City!
