UMEBA-FAQ And Interest List

Post by Lane » Mon Jan 28, 2019 11:29 am

Post here if you want to take over a UMEBA team. Also post your UMEBA questions here and I'll do my best to answer.

Bart League
Manama Na - Michael (mbranda41)
Cairo Chariot Archers BC- Scott
Baghdad - Kevin (handaspencer)
Istanbul Bosphorus - Alan

Bancroft League
Beirut Cedars - Fred
Bucharest Golden Dragons - Zach (stormfall)
Jerusalem Hebrew Hammers - Brett (welcome back!)
Mumbai Bicycle Club - Joseph (Table Soap)

Post here if you want a club, with your preference if you have one. I reserve the right to reserve a team for myself without notice.

Important Note
We will be using the UMEBA as a "feeder" for GMs like we did with the EBA. When we accept new applicants into UMEBA, we'll have to ask a BBA GM to step down. Haven't decided on the procedure yet but I'll probably ask for a volunteer, then figure out a way to decide who to remove if no one volunteers.

Since the BBA is my only online league and I tend to live and die with my Sim emails... I'd love to take one.

Do I get a new GM too? Or do I use the same one? Me?

Do they worry about PP points? or TN's?

I'll also be fine with being one of the first to step aside when new GM's apply.

I'd be very interested. Istanbul if possible. They are the worst team available and have a player that won a Landis for me on it. But I'd take whatever is open. Have EBA experience and love smaller leagues.

Can Baghdad not be the Bombers? I get that it's alliterative and a decent "baseball name" but otherwise it refers to some pretty bad stuff for probably a LOT of people.

Check PMs

It's all set as League Control right now, Recte may change names.

Writing for your UMEBA team will earn PP, but there are no PP/TN requirements at this time.

Fair enough. I'll ask him if he doesn't seem to have read this. I'm looking into alternatives, but unfortunately the public facing history of Iraq is not overflowing with positive cultural references. It's just a region and history I don't know enough about to come up with anything easily. I'll keep looking.

I'd be happy to take Bucharest until someone else came aboard and wanted them. Nothing like having two Brett's in the same division to make it even more fun.

Bucharest Gypsies sounds like fun. Vampires would just be too easy.

Beirut Falafels please! Also, no problem stepping down for a new GM.

Why "Falafels"? It's a food that unites all of the Middle East, including Israel. Brings baseball fans together dontchaknow!

Some things need fixing yet. Development budget is on and shouldn't be. And we definitely need a rundown of some of the rules that will be different. Is there a salary cap? We sticking with 25 man rosters? Also slack needs an UMEBA channel and the forums need some fleshing out in the UMEBA department.

Also you nailed that team logo recte. Exactly the one I wanted. :hi5:

The iraq region was an area where some of the earliest work in astronomy was done--particularly the refinement of astrolabe tech. If that helps any.
