PILOT LIGHT #2: Stars and Fate (August 30, 2059) by Bernardo Silva

General Manager of the Pilots, Lex Clark, wasted no time following his strange introductory press conference with a bevy of contract extensions, signing eleven current roster members to deals for the 2060 season.

Fans waited with bated breath as each extension was announced over the past few days, and though guys like Rashad, Jeffes, and Ruíz are very important signings and should not be understated, in a way, they were always fated to be.

Stars are all the same. Whether it's the Sun, or Katsunan Hashimoto, baseball revolves around them. Without the sun, São Paulo does not exist. Without Hashimoto?

Well, luckily, we don't have to find out.

Just hours ago, it was announced by the Pilots that Hashimoto has agreed to a one year extension.

"I'm really pleased that we're going to have a deal in place at the close of business today," Hashimoto said. "It's been unnerving facing the possibility that I would not be back in São Paulo next year, but now things are settled and we can concentrate on baseball."

Upon announcing the deal, Lex Clark reportedly stood up on his desk and began gyrating and drinking champagne while blasting a Black Eyed Peas trap remix. According to sources, he declared himself a genius, and demanded that everyone in the room call him a genius.

In his official statement to the press, Clark was a bit more reserved. "It doesn't take a genius to know that when you have star players, you have to keep them in your organization as long as you can. We are happy that Hashimoto, and frankly all of our signings, will be with us next season."

He added, "We've got a lot more work to do."

But for now, Pilots fans rest easy. São Paulo's star is fated to remain right where he is.
