Pilots Still Struggle to Get Off of the Ground - 29 Aug 2057

(Sao Paulo, Brazil)

As the season enters its final few weeks the Sao Paulo Pilots seem to still be struggling to get things off of the ground. For every great stretch of games they have had there has been a corresponding stretch of dismal play. The team currently has a record of 66-67 which is good enough for 5th in the GBC. The ironic thing is they are only 7 games back from the league leading Sydney Sharks. Their current record is a vast improvement over last season where the Pilots ended the season with the second worst win percentage in the history of the organization. Their 69 victories last season will, more than likely, be improved upon in the current season. But with only 2 teams making it to the league playoffs, the team will need a strong finish to make it to the post-season.

The organization is composed of more than just the Sao Paulo Pilots though. The teams in the minor leagues deserve some recognition as well.
AAA: Luanda Anglers - currently 3rd in the ABA. Their record is currently 80-52 and they are only 2 games back from the league leaders. With only 7 games left in their season, 2 of them against the league leading Ndali Barons, this fight is going to go down to the wire.

AA: Asuncion Banditos - currently 3rd in the SABL. They currently have a record of 86-48 and are 5 games back from the league leaders and 1 game behind the team in second place. There are 6 games left in the season and a strong chance that Asuncion can slide into the post season and make a statement for next season.

A: Jakarta Wet Sox in the FEBL have a record of 70-52. They are currently 28 games behind the league leaders. But even with 18 games left in their season it will take quite a few things to go their way for them to make it to the post season.

R: Tianjin Brigands in the CBL ended their season with the record of 41-27 and 12 games behind the league leaders. Last season the team ended the season with a record of 23-45. In 2056 the team totaled attendance of 129,637 and say a massive improvement this season as they totaled attendance of 214,774.

For the majority of the teams in the organization there are still games left in their seasons and they all, with the exception of Jakarta, have a chance of making the post-season. This has shown an unbelievable turnaround for an organization that was mired in the bottom of the GBC.

The owner, Abdul-Hadi Masruq, was all smiles after leaving his office today. When asked how he felt about things, he responded, "The seasons are not over yet and we are not going to go down without a fight...and that is what I expect."

At the beginning of the season the expectations were high, but many felt they were nothing but pipe-dreams, but the Pilots might make believers out of all of us yet. They have just enough time to prove us wrong and prove the magic is back in Sao Paulo and the Pilots really do know how to fly.
