Sao Paolo Postseason: A Tragedy In Four Parts
Act I
In which executive coach Stan H. Stansman, fresh from having successfully exiled popular starter Ajanidha Praveen and stored all the cash for free agency, plots another move. This time he conspires with staff aces Owen Geddes and Adam Barber, to cut the contract of Neill ‘The Beast’ Fenomore, and use the money to re-sign the imperious Tadataka Yoshikawa. However, with the GBC Championship days away and his best lieutentant Nam-Cheol U injured on the battlefield, Stansman prevaricates, eventually deciding to do nothing until after the Series, and Barber will start Game 2.
“Conscience doth make cowards of us all.”
Act II
In which the Pilots return to Sao Paolo, following three consecutive defeats in Japan, with Geddes, Fenomore and Barber all bested by the unstoppable Tokyo Pearls. Stansman cuts a distraught figure, prone to long soliloquising, while Yoshikawa becomes increasingly withdrawn. The Parc de Bucharest catches fire, and with much wailing and gnashing of teeth, Tokyo close out the sweep.
“When sorrows come, they come not single spies. But in battalions!”
Act III
In which Stansman is betrayed, first by Yoshikawa, who wishes to ‘test free agency’, and then by the ingrateful Geddes, who has decided to opt out of his current contract. Stansman, with the shame of defeat and the lurking presence of the still contracted Fenomore looming above him, falls to the ground
“One may smile, and smile, and be a villain. ”
Act IV
In which Praveen returns from Charm City to survey the devastated city of Sao Paolo, and the burnt-out shell of Parc de Bucharest, robbed of its heroes, and the broken Stansman, now drinking red wine direct from the box. Praveen takes centre stage and makes a famous speech on the concept of loyalty to a wounded U. The play ends with U himself speaking on the nature of things, while Stansman lies at his feet, sobbing.
“Now cracks a noble heart. Good-night, sweet prince;
And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest. ”
FIN.*
Owen Geddes, opt-out in-grate

All our lives the Pilots lived clean lives. We were good to our mothers, gave change to orphans, only ate dogs that were already dead. And here is how life repaid us.
