Naim Al-Diya Din walked the cavernous work out area in the RAMJACK Corporation’s newest construction, the Gym de Bucharest*, the massive facility designed to keep Sao Paulo’s Pilots the fittest of the fit physical specimens this side of the Pacific. But today, following an awkward week of mediocrity for the Pilots and their erstwhile GM, Dog Action, there was no one taking advantage of the impressive array of equipment
“Look at this place, Action, it’s empty! No-one is using it. What we need is a change! A boost! An injection of fresh moxie!”
“We could do a trade, sir?”
“Yes, Action, a trade! What do you have in the works?”
“We have an injured Danish backup 2B Brynjar Nerdal we are going to send to Cairo.”
“Excellent! Is he a malcontent?”
“According to Cole, he is a “good ol’ boy”, which I think is a kind of Danish racist”
“That’ll do! And what are we getting back?”
“Some young relievers. They’re very cheap. And a long reliever called Juan Garcia.”
“That won’t do it Action! We need someone who will give us a kick, a boost! Tell me about his Garcia? Will he bring the moxie? Will he drive our players forward? Will he bring back the energy? Will we see him in this empty gym?”
“Actually, sir, according to our scouts, he doesn’t just put in normal time at the gym, he in fact “puts in extra time in the gym”."
“Excellent Action! Just the man we need!”
Garcia arrived the next day. He immediately reported to the Gym de Bucharest, where he drank copiously from the water fountain, posed intimidatingly near the bench press machine, and preened in front of the full size mirrors.
