Sao Paulo’s Letter to the Brewsterians

The RAMJACK Ethics committee meets once a solar eclipse, in a small room at the back of one of the Corporation’s finest factories. This one makes machine parts for tanks.

Erstwhile GM of the Pilots, Dog Action, sweated nervously in front of the suited G-men tasked with extracting the truth from him.

G-MAN: “It just seems an unbelievable coincidence, Action”
GM: “It isn’t! It is! We don’t even share a surname”
G-MAN: “You did once. And now there are real questions how this hack Alec Aiton ever made it into pro-ball”
GM: “He’s an extremely talented young man! His typical approach is cool, slow, and methodical.”
G-MAN: “Slow alright, the fellow has literally the least movement you can have, to go along with his ballooning 6.42 ERA. How did he ever deserve 12 starts?”
GM: “It’s not that simple! His personality type is unknown and the coaches needed to know more!”
G-MAN: “Ever been to Nguiu, NT?”
GM: “I refuse to accept the existence of such a weirdly named place”
G-MAN: “Ever funded a college degree to Helsinki University of Helsinks?”
GM: “I don’t think that’s a real school!”
G-MAN“You are a disgrace, Action. But you’re our disgrace. And get Neill Fenomore off the disabled list. The Beast needs to feast.”

And with that, ashamed but still employed, Action returned to his shiny office in , relieved his ordeal was over. And no-one had asked any other questions of the rest of the 51-53 Wet Sox, the majority of whom were also Action’s children. Gyu-sik Yop is hitting .178, for cripes sake!
