The Bucharest Digest - 2046.3

McBride made his first trade. Moved a ML benchwarmer for a low level pitcher. Was it a good deal? I don’t know. Maybe. Still, you’d have thought he had cured cancer. He poured champagne. I hate champagne. And Romanian champagne is even worse.

Speaking of my new home, I’m learning lots more about my new home. It’s a tense place. The city is vibrant and electric, but not in a “this is fun” kinda way. More like a “I could be electrocuted and die any moment now” kinda way. The good news is that we have a fan base. Baseball went from having a very small, specific group of interested followers to being an institution. The team has done well in the past to be part of the local fabric. The team is an institution, here.

The thanks for that go to the owner, Naim Diya al Din. He’s worked hard to make the Impalers about more than winning baseball games. Though, he’s been successful at that, too.
