2044:06 Bucharest Times: Fight breaks out in Impaler Locker Room

Post by allenciox » Tue Oct 20, 2020 6:26 pm

The outcome of the Bucharest's 5-0 win over the Mumbai Metro Stars on August 10 might have never seemed in doubt. All the iireworks occurred after the game, in the Impaler's locker room.

It' not unusual to see a team going through the throes of a losing steak at each other's throat, but it is much more ominous when the team is winning. First Freddy McCord tackled reliever Freddy Bello . Then left fielder Craig Barber jumped into the fracas, earning himself a bloody nose in the process.

We talked with the GM after the game, and in his broken English, he explained what the consequences were:

"We take serious this problem on team and make sure never happen again," he said. "After fight, McCord move back to Luanda and Craig and Freddy Bello both put on waivers. We make sure this no happen any more."

We spoke with some of the other players that were witness to the encounter, and they had their own ideas. "What we really need is a team captain," one said. "The only leaders on this team are the ones making mischief". Another said that the problem lies with the manager, John Day. "Look," he said. "There is no question that John is a great manager when it comes to getting the most out of his players on the field. The problem comes after the game is over. He just goes home and leaves the rest of us to fend for ourselves.". Another said that some players are pretty irritated that John was offered a $1.2 million contract for each of the next three years. "John just doesn't have time to really establish relationships with the players," he said. "So something like this was bound to happen sooner or later."

At any rate, this reporter definitely perked up an indication that what might happen after a game might be even more important than what happens during the games for this Bucharest team.
