Meet pitching staff for Impalers for 2044! 2044:02

Last year show best pitching in all of UMEBA. This year hope to live up to that promise. Here is the staff:

Starters:

S1: Mateus Rabisca . What to say about Mateus that not be said already? He all-star selection every year since rookie year in 2039: 2039, 2040, 2041, 2042, AND 2043. Last year, he win Pitcher of year award, leading league in ERA (3.55), WAR (5.7!), WHIP (1.08), BB/9 (1.3!) strike outs (173) AND IP (220.1). If he stay healthy, he a cinch to win it all again. Not since Greg Maddux of the 1990s has a pitcher dominated batters like him. He only regular player that arrive in Bucharest my first year and still be starter five years later.

S2: Francois Mangin is another control freak. Last year, in second year Bucharest, he have 4.34 ERA and 3.3 WAR but only walk 2.3 batters per 9 innings. Solid.

S3: Leonardo Gomez picked up in expansion draft from Kuwait City. Last year, with bad defense behind him, he have 5.71 ERA but only give up 1.4 walks per 9 innings and had a 1.8 WAR. Hopefully he do better with better defense behind him.

S4: Matt Hanson have 5.15 ERA last year, but 3.1 WAR suggests he hit bad luck. Expect better this season.

S5: Fraser Pond was another pick up in expansion draft, from Cairo. Last year, he have 5.38 ERA with 2.1 WAR. His main issue is keeping ball in the park (1.4 HR/9 last season). We hope he do more like 2042 season (4.39 ERA, 3.6 WAR) this year.

Bullpen
The bullpen will be anchored by do-everything Mario Villarreal . He could start, but with his long stamina he should be callable just about every day in pen. Last year he lead UMEBA in saves (34) while pitching in 60 (53 in relief) games (96 IP) with 4.41 ERA. He will be ably assisted by solid middle-distance stalwarts rookie Brendan Pollock, BBA veteran Ramon Garza (4.10 ERA last year at Bucharest), Leon Scherer (4.19 ERA last year), and Freddy Bello (4.36 ERA last year). Ivan Meerkerk (3.72 ERA last year on 113.2 IP) and Timo Van Oosterom (3.07 ERA on 93.2 IP) will handle the long relief position.
