Hammer Time 2049.2

Post by DaveB » Sun Jan 16, 2022 9:56 pm

The Hammers have played well since the GM change. They currently have put together a 29-19 record since the change while changes continue to be made both at the major and minor league levels. 41 players have been released while 45 players have been signed including new signing of veteran Weaver Ripley. Ripley comes over from Mumbai after 3 very good years for the Metro Stars that included 2 world championships. Ripley should give slugger Adam Backhouse some much needed support in the lineup while adding to a an area of need in center field.

Also recently added was some needed depth at starting pitcher as the team added Jorge Vega Vega spent time earlier this year with the BBA franchise Edmonton before being granted his release May 27. He initially came to us in a long relief role, but was impressive so we moved him to the starting rotation where he is 4-1 with a 2.27 ERA in 4 starts.

While looking to make a push toward the post season we've also got an eye on next season. We are projected to be about 11 million over the salary cap for next year so it's going to be a interesting to see what direction we go. Some rumors circulating have us considering move on from Backhouse. There are other options, but Backhouse also has a player option where he can opt out of his contract. Management has stated they don't feel comfortable having 30.9 (56.18% of the cap next year) tied up in 3 players. It will be an interesting off season for sure in Jerusalem. Possibly one that might match the blood letting of talent after the 3rd of 3 championships by Mumbai following the 2047 season.

You are missing the bracket at the end.

I keep a document with the completed url “equation” of each player in for each team. A pain to set up but from then on all you do is copy & paste from there into the TN. Each off season I cut & paste from one team to another as the players move up or leave.

Riyadh is right up to the cap as well and with several key players all wanting 5 or 6 million and Sato wanting FA, the age of Riyadh could be short lol. Could be interesting if Backhouse and Sato are both on the market in the off season

Great to see the Hammers coming back to where they belong. Lots of good memories running the team. Go win the United Cup that I never did.
