THE Hammer
31 March 2049

**********************************
Opening Day is finally here in the UMEBA and Jersulaem is prepped to begin blazing their path - hopefully to the United Cup, but there are plenty of contenders for that goal. GM Ben Teague has payed close attention this offseason and Spring Training and arranged player lineups that give the Hammers the best shot. We'll start our judgmental indignation with the rotation.
Rotation
1. Edwin Harney
2. Leon Ludemon
3. Hsuang-tsung Xú
4. Jaypee Estancia
5. Mokichi Yamamoto
24yo RHP Edwin Harney
2048: 32 G, 31 GS, 11-13, 4.44 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, +4.1 WAR
2048 from Manama Pearls in exchange for P Damian Theophanous
Harney is your typical power pitcher and ace. Everything plays off his 101-mph including a 8-Curveball. He's also young so we might see a tick or two of progress. He's been a long time coming to the top spot with 32 GS with Manama in 2047.
23yo LHP Leon Ludemon
2048: 34 G, 30 GS, 13-10, 4.83 ERA, 1.47 WHIP, +2.9 WAR
2044 draft rnd 5 34th overall (5-34th)
Leon's gonna start. He was ranked as high as #10 prospect years ago, but management has been waiting for him to step over that under-4.00 ERA for a few seasons now. We think he's a solid #2 at this point in his career. Especially if his WAR remains around +3.0 or higher.
23yo LHP Hsuang-tsung Xú
2048: 32 G, 31 GS, 10-8, 4.35 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, +2.8 WAR
2044 draft 3-18th
Regardless of his age, Xú has been a staple in the Hammers rotation for some time now. In fact, his first UMEBA start came in his sophomore year. If you name it, Xú throws it. We've seen that blow up in the face of teams before, but Xú knows how to handle his shit. Like Ludemon, the expectation is that he keeps churning out WARs north of +3.0.
23yo RHP Jaypee Estancia
2048: 37 G, 4 GS, 4-4, 3 SV, 5.66 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, +0.3 WAR
2044 draft 4-26th
Another product of the 2044 draft, Jaypee can be a handful at times. Seems he lets his focus slip away for stretches. He was demoted to AAA last year for 8 games but he dominates there so it's time to put on the big boy pants and solidify the middle of this rotation.
23yo RHP Mokichi Yamamoto
2048 (AAA): 14 G, 14 GS, 7-1, 2.23 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, +2.3 WAR
2045 draft 1-1st
Yamamoto was the first overall pick in the 2045 draft and that development curve is paying off right now. He spent most of 2048 in AAA, but that won't be the case in 2049.
