Spring Training is here and it means everything to fans and management alike, but likely more antacids at the top. We've covered the OF. This is the cards GM Ben Teague will have in his pocket in the way of infielders:

Infielders
Image
1B Adam Backhouse (2048: 350 AB, 25 HR, 73 RBI, .300/.317/.546, +1.5 WAR) (Ratings: 1B 5)
Set in stone. The only question is what will he contribute in a full season because...oh, you didn't know he missed half of 2048?

1B Dylan Malloch (2048: 521 AB, 27 HR, 79 RBI, .267/.345/.489, +2.3 WAR) (Ratings: 1B 7)
That's how you capitalize on a season when the guy ahead of you on the depth chart goes down. Now where do I put him. Oh yeah, DH! (this queasy feeling is creeping in...)

2B Ab Elders (2048: 350 AB, 4 HR, 37 HR, .269/.323/.360, +1.9 WAR) (Ratings: 2B 11, 3B 4, SS 10)
Elders is another player who took advantage of his lot. He was only brought in as a defensive backup, but he claimed 2B. Or SS?

SS Juan Castillo (2048: 302 AB, 4 HR, 26 RBI, 11 SB, .209/.261/.291, -0.4 WAR) (Ratings: SS 9, RF 4)
He lacks offense, of course, but that's ever my priority at SS. It's amazing when you get both, but the young (was a rookie for part of last season) Castillo has had SS locked down defensive going into his 3rd MLB season.

2B Octávio Ordóñez (2048 AA: 416 AB, 10 HR, 58 RBI, 27 SB, .286/.281/.445, +3.4 WAR) (Ratings: 2B 7)
A 7 at 2B? When I have better options. Granted Ordóñez has yet to play in the majors, and that may be the factor that sends him down to start 2049, but remember that thing we said about defense AND offense? How long does Ab Elders hold on to 2B defensively when a player like Ordóñez is lurking behind him?

Felip Soto (2048: 300 AB, 7 HR, 33 RBI, .237/.294/.343) (Ratings: 1B 9, 3B 8, SS 3)
Soto is an above-average producer and has shown he can hold down 3B defensively, but Soto is another guy with someone sneaking in behind him.

Miguel Moya (2048: 234 AB, 6 HR, 32 RBI, 3 SB, .282/.336/.449, +1.2 WAR) (Ratings: 3B 7)
Is Soto better than he has shown offensively? He can prove it, but he has to hurry the hell up because Moya is shoving him out of the hot corner.

On the roster we also have defensive wizards Atissi Mbamba (Ratings: 2B 13, 3B 10, SS 11) and Joe Race (Ratings: 2B 10, 3B 11, SS 8). One of these likely goes down. Which one is not quite clear at this point.
