As you can expect from a .500 team, the awards weren't piling up for Jerusalem players. The exception was in the bullpen where 2 of the Top 5 vote getters for Reliever of the Year...which, ironically, was a sore spot in the 2048 season. Topping the entire list of relief pitchers was Jan Chmelyk who was voted Reliever of the Year. His 115 votes topped Baghdad closer António Castillo's 98 so it was obviously a tough decision.
Chmelyk appeared in 64 games over the course of the season and had 36 saves that was a 88.9% clip. In those 64 games Chmelyk put up a stat line of 4-7, 2.59 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, 63 K's, +1.6 WAR. This is including a 5.40 ERA in June and 4.22 in August. He was also an All-Star this season putting him in 2 of the last 3 classes.
Chmelyk impressed even in the arbitration proceedings where he got a 1-yr deal of $2.4m. He is under team control thru the 2050 season so Hammer fans can sit back and enjoy watching him bag games for the Hammers for a long while.
