Jerusalem couldn't hold up their end of BURT playoff race and fade away with a 1-5 Sim #25. It was going to be a delicate needle to thread in any case. There were a lot of reasons the Hammers couldn't hold up and as we turn out our lights we can look back on what was in the month of September:

Inconsistency

Watch this:
April: 13-14, .481
May: 11-18, .379
June: 11-16, .407
July: 21-4, .840
Aug: 11-17, .392
September: 9-10, .473

We didn't even realize July for what it was until typing it just now. That is just a weird season. In fact, without the team's scorching July, there would never have been interest in a WC race and the Hammers would fade away. So at least we made it to this point.

Home/Road

Looking back from the September perspective reveals another weird stat situation:
Home: 43-34, .558
Road: 33-45, .423

That's a really heavy split for home field. You mix it all in with the other numbers and get no postseason, but this stat is a stand out to determine the cause which is really only needed to fix the current situation.

If you draw your pistol, be ready to fire

Caught in a process one could best described as "well intentioned," Jerusalem made some space on the Active Roster the last week of August and first of using waivers and DFA. Baghdad seemed more than happy to snatch up 37yo SS Carlos Camancho, 2B Danny Glatz, and 2B Dong-kyoon Park. No big deal, but it highlights one of many changes in perspective necessary to live at the bottom of the food chain. Always expect to lose what you waive. With no trading or a thriving FA market, that's one of the few levers to trickle in a little talent.
